Sapphic September

It’s Sapphic September! I love love love the idea of a month celebrating the wide and wonderful world of sapphic books, and love the ManicFemme and EvilQueenReads put this delightful bingo card together to make it fun. If you’re playing, I’d be honored if you considered one of my titles to complete your card. To make it easy, I put together a list of how some of my books fit!

All the books I list can be found in the usual places, including the Bold Strokes Books website, your (or my!) favorite indie bookstore, and Amazon*.

Debut: Oh, Winter’s Harbor, you’ll always have a special place in my heart.

Plus Sized Sapphics: I try to work in body diversity into a lot of my books, but The Last Place You Look features a femme who actively identifies as fat.

Comfy Read: Gah! Hard to pick. I tend to write pretty low angst stuff. I’ll go with Twice Shy because bakery, plus love in middle age and after divorce.

2023 Release: My spring 2023 release (Roux for Two) isn’t actually a sapphic one because it features a trans guy as one of the MCs, but Sweat Equity, the first of my renovation romances, is available for preorder. (And if you’re a reviewer interested in an ARC, drop me a line!)

Trope that Starts w/ the letter F: Since everyone is probably thinking of fake dating or friends-to-lovers, I’ll mix it up with fish out of water. Greener Pastures features a big city CPA who finds herself tending a hobby farm. It’s also perhaps the only recorded use of the #secretbabygoat hashtag.

Quick Read: I have three novellas! All are parts of collections and also available individually. Follow Her Lead is part of the Opposites Attract collection I did with the awesome Meghan O’Brien and Angie Williams. You should totally snag the whole collection, but the one-off novellas are fresh out in September!

Butch/Macs or GNC Sapphics: Um, yeah. I write variations on butch/femme, so take your pick!

Part of a Series: I’ve recently fallen in love with the Libby app and learned that Autumn’s Light (4th in my Cape End series) is available through the New York Public Library, so if you’re in NY, you can read it for free. (If you’re not in NY, find and support your local library!)

Different Identity than Your Own: Identity is a lovely and messy and complex thing and I don’t want to presume anything about yours. I’ll give some love to Roux for Two, though, since it’s close to my heart and sapphic adjacent with its queer femme lead. I’ll also highlight Hard Pressed with its biracial, bisexual lead, Mira.

For what it’s worth, if you’ve made your way to this post, I’m thrilled, andnI’d love to be friends. That means you can ask me to pick one for you, or you can hit me up to talk about identity and how cool it is to read outside our comfort zones (even as it’s still cool and wonderful and special to see ourselves in the queer joy of sapphic romance generally).

Hope you find some great reads—I’d love to hear from you with your recommendations! Happy Sapphic September!
